Meet Dustin

Dustin is the experienced, effective leader Democrats need on the Salt Lake County Council. On the Midvale City Council, Dustin has delivered real solutions to the same serious challenges Salt Lake County is currently facing. He’s made housing more affordable while transforming an economically depressed Main Street into a thriving and vibrant new community. He’s cleaned up toxic waste and protected Utah’s water supply while bringing economic development and family living to the Jordan River Trail. Dustin is the right choice for Salt Lake County Council because Democrats can count on him to win, and we can all count on him to deliver results.

Dustin’s leadership has earned him the endorsements of Democrats on the County Council and dozens of state and local elected officials. It’s a testament to his ability to work with others and make real political progress. Dustin has strengthened and transformed Midvale’s government - he took charge of his community's future and has delivered one of the most dynamic and effective councils in the county as well as a forward-thinking young skateboarding Mayor. Dustin drew the ire of hardline conservatives by condemning LGBTQ+ conversion therapy, championing paid family leave for city employees, and designating racism as a public health crisis - and then defeated his re-election challenger, a well-known former council member, by fifty points.

Dustin has achieved these remarkable results by never backing down from his core values while maintaining trusting relationships with people from all backgrounds and compromising only where it makes sense. He’s built consensus and has led his council to make wise decisions about commercial development, public safety, and walkability, and he has been an essential part of making Midvale the dynamic and desirable community it has become. Dustin is the best choice for a new voice on the County Council and the candidate best prepared to tackle the issues that matter most to county residents.

Dustin’s Top Priorities

Save the Lake!

The Great Salt Lake is drying up and is an ecological ticking time bomb. While the Republican-led legislature drags its feet, Salt Lake County elected officials need to lead the way on this issue. Dustin has both the experience and the passion to advocate for science-based solutions to help save the Lake before it’s too late.

Build Thriving Communities

Connected, vibrant communities where working folks can afford to live take vision and planning. Dustin has done it - Midvale’s hip, bustling Main Street is a model for other cities. Dustin is committed to developing a more connected and accessible mass transit system that will take cars off the road and get people where they need to go safely and efficiently.
